David J David J. Haskins (b. April 24, 1957, in Northampton, England) is a British alternative rock musician. He was the bassist for the seminal gothic rock band Bauhaus. Life and work . Young was appointed executive director of the Writers Guild of America The Writers Guild of America is a term often referring to the joint efforts of the Writers Guild of America, East and the Writers Guild of America, west. ``For nearly a year now, I've seen David in action across the globe, advocating on behalf of writers and, in every case, he has hit the mark,'' WGAw President Patric M. Verrone said in a statement.

Verrone said the search committee considered an ``outstanding field'' of candidates who represented a broad spectrum of labor union labor union: see union, labor.  experience.

``But the more we saw David in action with our members, with the companies, and with our sister unions, the more obvious it became that our best choice was the one we had already made,'' he said.

Prior to his interim WGAw appointment last fall, Young had worked as the guild's top organizer. Young's appointment is still subject to approval by WGAw membership at its annual membership meeting on Sept. 18.
