The current Wolverines are pretty good too, including the youngsters. No. 3 Chatsworth found out in fifth-ranked Harvard-Westlake's convincing 3-0 victory.

The Wolverines (4-1-1) don't lack experience. Juniors Jill Oakes and Jen Price are seasoned varsity veterans. But Thursday starters Julie Shapira, Jen Sayles, Jamie Artis, Kaitlyn Krauss and goalkeeper For the close-in weapon system, see .

But at least Harvard-Westlake knows it can go young and prosper.

``We have seven (total freshmen). So we're really young. But we're getting used to everyone,'' said Sayles, who scored the Wolverines' first goal midway Midway, island group (2 sq mi/5.2 sq km), central Pacific, c.1,150 mi (1,850 km) NW of Honolulu, comprising Sand and Eastern islands with the surrounding atoll. Sayles and her teammates already have faced a brutal baptism baptism [Gr., =dipping], in most Christian churches a sacrament. ``We're not mature emotionally but physically we hold our own,'' Sayles said. ``Since we're really young we're not used to playing together, so playing hard teams is really good competition.''

Harvard-Westlake lost to Buena and tied Westlake. But against the City Section's dominant program, the Wolverines were in command against the Chancellors, who had played only one previous match, against Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

Chatsworth's lack of matches showed. The Chancellors were outshot 18-3 and didn't record on a shot on goal until the 66th minute.

By that time Harvard-Westlake was already in control, getting additional goals from Gina Farias-Eisner and Cassie Hamar.

``We need to work on how our attack is going to start and where it moves to. We need to make runs without the ball.''

The Wolverines' attack clicked nicely, thanks mainly to the adept dribbling and passing of Oakes, one of the region's top performers.

``The thing that Jill does, is she creates space for herself, and that allows her to play the ball,'' Harvard-Westlake coach Ned Smith said. ``And you saw all the distribution that went wide were from Jill.''

Sayles' goal came on a looping ball from a teammate that she controlled just inside the penalty area and then kicked past Chatsworth goalkeeper Sydney Sterk.
