Have you heard about this well-intentioned UCLA alum who supposedly has so much free time working in the budget-strapped state legislature that he's able to push a bill through that'll eventually rename the post office in Reseda after the Bruins' legendary basketball coach John Wooden?

Can we assume the estate of the late Sam Gilbert will be bankrolling this philanthropic project?

--In all honesty, who would it have hurt - besides Kobe Bryant - if he dragged himself out for the fourth quarter just to see how far he could have gone beyond 62 points?

So, at the end of the day, did this one particular game turn the opinion of the country's basketball fans, who instead of seeing him as Kobe the Hated Man in Colorado now are looking at him as Kobe the Highlight Machine Who Can Get the Lakers Back to the Playoffs?

--Will it be a stretch for everyone sitting along the first-base line at Dodger Stadium to collectively wince every time Nomar Garciaparra and his surgically repaired groin goes far to his right to try to scoop a Jeff Kent shotput out of the dirt?

--Would it be out of line for Mia Hamm to corner kick Carolyn Hughes if and when she gets a little too cozy to her husband?

--Who are the bigger idiots, the Yankees for giving Johnny Damon so much money over so many years, the Red Sox for not matching it, or the Dodgers for somehow failing to add him to their West Coast collection and instead settling on the why-isn't-he-already-retired Kenny Lofton?

--Anyone left in Beantown for Manny Ramirez to drive in?

And why would Roger Clemens even consider going back now?

--Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins in March 2006? Just 12 years after their last bout? And they expect people to pay to see this?

--Who wouldn't want to be on Reggie Bush's short list of potential agents?
