A rendezvous by the town hall map

CAN anyone remember referring to the map outside Middlesbrough Town Hall as a designated meeting place when arranging to meet someone? asks Patricia Elliott of Acklam.

"When I used to do this with someone I wasn't sure of I also asked them to describe themselves.

"I was 18 in the 1960s and sometimes when I'd made the date there was a number of people who fitted the description of who you were meeting and it could be a bit embarrassing."

When it clicked that Olwyn was a relative

BRIAN Whaite was reading the article about Shirley Bassey in Issue 78 and realised that the lady who sent in the article - Mrs Olwyn Hobbs - is a relative.

He writes:

My grandmother and Olwyn's mother were sisters. Olwyn will know my grandmother as Auntie Sally (Sarah Harvey Harvey, city (1990 pop. 29,771), Cook co., NE Ill., a suburb S of Chicago; inc. 1895. Its manufactures include steel castings, metal products, chemicals, machinery, and electronic equipment. Harvey has an oil research center. The city was founded by Turlington W.  nee Graham).

I also remember her Aunt Doris who spent a lot of time at the South Bank Mission. It is some time since I saw Olwyn and family and would love to get in touch again.

My wife and I are working on the family tree at present and would like some help with the Graham side of the family. I think that Olwyn will have guessed that I am Aunty Sally's grandson Grandson (gräNsôN`), Ger.
