YMCA of Middle Tennessee Joins Premedics to Raise Standard for Family First Aid.

Leading corporate automated external defibrillator (AED) solutions provider Premedics(TM) Inc. and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee announced today they are partnering to provide a new standard of care in family first aid-- comprehensive AED programs for YMCA facilities.

Premedics will deliver an on-going program to 25 sites including camps, administration, family and adult YMCA buildings. The program includes AEDs, devices that restore a normal heart rhythm to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims, emergency oxygen, training and on-going service. The Philips Heartstream(TM) FR2 AEDs chosen by the YMCA are designed to treat children as well as adults.

YMCA of Middle Tennessee executives researched a number of companies before deciding upon Premedics, said Stephen Tammaro, YMCA group vice president. SCA, which can begin as an abnormal hearth rhythm, kills 450,000 Americans--including children--every year, often without prior symptoms. Studies show fitness centers are among the top ten locations where SCA is most likely to occur.
