Aug. 17, 1992: The Dodgers' Kevin Gross
    Kevin Frank Gross (born June 8, 1961 in Downey, California), is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played from 1983 through 1997.

    Gross played for five different teams during his career: the Philadelphia Phillies (1983-1988), Montreal Expos (1989-1990), Los

      Aug. 20, 1978: Dodgers stars Steve Garvey and Don Sutton exchange blows in the clubhouse following a 5-4 win over the Mets.

      Aug. 20, 1974: Dodgers leadoff man Davey Lopes hits three home runs, a double and a single in an 18-8 win over Chicago. His 15 total bases are a record for a leadoff man.

      Aug. 20, 1975: Northridge's American Little League team represents the West in the four-team Little League World Series at Williamsport, Pa. It loses to Lakewood, N.J., 2-0 in the opener, then 6-0 to Davenport, Iowa, in the consolation final.

      Aug. 22, 1967: Northridge represents the U.S. West in the Little League World Series, losing its first-round game to Latin America 1-0. Northridge made it to the consolation final, but the game was rained out.

      Aug. 22, 1965: In one of baseball's nastiest incidents, and a reminder of the Dodgers-Giants rivalry, San Francisco pitcher Juan Marichal hits Dodgers catcher John Roseboro over the head with his bat in the heat of a pennant-race game at Candlestick Candlestick

       Park. Marichal claims Roseboro's throw back to Sandy Koufax on the mound nicked his ear. Marichal is suspended eight games and fined $1,750. Roseboro gets a bloody two-inch gash on his head. He later sued Marichal for $110,000 and settled out of court for $7,500 five years later.
