YARC Releases 6 Color ICC RIP.

YARC Systems Corporation (OTCBB:YARC) today announced the release of version 1.50 of its Postscript 3 Raster Image Processor software. This release implements full 6 color ICC capability.

Inkjet printers have traditionally printed onto paper using inks of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, the 4 color system. Newer inkjet printers have two additional ink cartridges, which may be used either for color systems using Orange and Green Inks or Light Cyan and Light Magenta Inks.

Pantone has patented the Hexachrome(TM) system, which uses hues of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Orange and Green (CMYKOG) pigments to print images which have a much wider gamut than can be obtained with a 4 color process.

Light Cyan and Light Magenta, on the other hand, are used to increase the quality of ink-jet images by reducing the visibility of the dots printed onto the paper. In the lighter areas of an inkjet image it is often possible to see discrete dots, which can look quite objectionable. By printing lighter colors using the Light Cyan and Light Magenta inks (CMYKcm), the dots placed on the paper are less visible, and a more realistic appearance can be achieved.

YARC's 6 color output system has been completely redesigned so that it is based on the same standard ICC Profiling systems used with Apple Computer's Colorsync(TM). Rather than manage the CMYKOG or CMYKcm with separate algorithms, YARC's Raster Image Processor has been redesigned to manage full 6 Color ICC profiles, whichever ink set is being used. Version 1.50 of the YARC-EZ and YARC-RIP products include a set of standard ICC profiles for those users who cannot yet generate their own 6 color ICC profiles.

Version 1.50 of the RIP contains 6 color driver support for the Epson Stylus Pro 5000 desktop proofer and the Stylus Pro 9000 wide-format printer.
