Xyvision Announces Agreement to Return Eclipse Software to Alias/Wavefront.
In September 1998, Xyvision sold substantially all of the assets of its Contex business unit to Barco Graphics in order to refocus on its core publishing and information management technologies and services. Continuing this refocusing, Alias/Wavefront and Xyvision have worked together to seek a new partner to market, support and develop the Eclipse product. On December 21, 1998, Alias/Wavefront and Form and Vision GMBH, a former Eclipse reseller, reached an agreement whereby Form and Vision would resume selling the Eclipse product. To ensure a smooth transition of the technology, Xyvision has agreed to sell all Eclipse software enhancements developed since 1996 to Alias/Wavefront.
"The agreement to provide the source code to Alias ensures that the new partner will have full access to the Eclipse products released by Contex, as well as to software that was under development for future releases," said Kevin Duffy, president of Xyvision, Inc.
"All of the parties involved felt it was in the best interest of current and future customers to ensure continued support and development of the products," said David Lewis, general counsel of Alias Wavefront. "Form and Vision represents an ideal partner for this endeavor as they already have extensive experience selling and servicing the product."
