Xirrus and AirMagnet Partnering on Industry's Most Secure, Gigabit-Class Enterprise Wi-Fi Solution; Companies to Integrate AirMagnet's Wireless Intrusion Detection/Prevention Technology into Xirrus Wireless LAN Array.

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  -- Xirrus, Inc., creator of the next-generation Wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  Array, and AirMagnet, the leader in wireless LAN security One issue with corporate wireless networks in general, and WLANs in particular, involves the need for security. Many early access points could not discern whether or not a particular user had authorization to access the network.  and performance solutions, today announced that they will integrate AirMagnet's award-winning AirMagnet(TM) Enterprise software into Xirrus' WLAN See wireless LAN.

Array -- a revolutionary architecture combining a WLAN switch with up to 16 Integrated Access Points in a single device. This will create enterprise Wi-Fi solutions with industry-leading capacity, coverage and security, and set new standards for simplicity and cost-performance. The companies will also cross-promote each other's solutions.

The integration of AirMagnet Enterprise software allows the WLAN Array to provide full-time RF intrusion detection See IDS and IPS.  while also delivering over 800Mbps of RF bandwidth to client devices. This will give enterprise customers best-of-class capacity and security in a single device. When enabled, AirMagnet's Enterprise software will utilize a dedicated Integrated Access Point in the WLAN Array to detect rogue access points (1) A wireless access point (AP) installed by an employee without the consent of the IT department. Without the proper security configuration, users have exposed their company's network to the outside world.  and over 130 security threats.

"The integration of AirMagnet's award winning technology in the WLAN Array further simplifies Wi-Fi networks See wireless Ethernet and 802.11.  allowing enterprise customers to realize performance and efficiency gains without compromising security," says Xirrus' CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Dirk Gates. "With industry-best capacity, coverage, security and return-on-investment, the WLAN Array featuring AirMagnet technology represents the most powerful and compelling value proposition for end users and resellers alike."

"Businesses are progressing to full-blown WLAN deployments with more users and increasingly demanding applications," said Dean Au, president and CEO of AirMagnet. "Security continues to be a primary focus, and now administrators are also challenged to deliver much more capacity while keeping the network secure. Using the Xirrus WLAN Array for full-time Wi-Fi monitoring as well as Gigabit-class capacity and extending the coverage area meets key enterprise requirements, and delivering this in a single device dramatically lowers cost."

AirMagnet will license its sensor software solution to Xirrus to be embedded Inserted into. See embedded system.  in each WLAN Array. Xirrus will distribute the AirMagnet Enterprise sensor software as part of its standard WLAN Array product offering. Current AirMagnet Enterprise customers will be able to utilize Xirrus Wireless LAN Arrays in current or new AirMagnet networks. Xirrus Wireless LAN Arrays with AirMagnet's sensor software will be available in the third quarter of this year.

AirMagnet and Xirrus will be exhibiting in Booths #410 and #1066 at Interop Las Vegas (formerly NetWorld+Interop), May 3-5.
