Xionix Simulation Wins Contract to Upgrade United Airlines Trainers; First Program Win for Xionix Strengthens E&S's Expansion into Civil Airline Training Systems Market.

 of Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by United Airlines to upgrade their B747 and 757 Autoflight System Trainers. This is the first major program win by Xionix since the company was acquired by Evans & Sutherland.

The software and hardware upgrades include the incorporation of the exclusive FMCEmulator in both devices. The FMCEmulator is a PC-based unit which uses actual aircraft FMC See fixed mobile convergence.  software and represents the exact functionality of the aircraft flight management computer. It also includes the ability to load the aircraft FMC operational program and navigation database. This unique product results from an exclusive agreement between Xionix and Honeywell that enables flight training devices to have higher fidelity at low cost.

"A deciding factor in this decision was the advantages the FMCEmulator gives United in easily updating the FMC software and loading the FMC operation program and navigational database Navigational databases incorporate both the network model and hierarchical model of database interfaces and have evolved into Set-oriented systems [1]. Navigational techniques use "pointers" and "paths" to navigate among data records (also known as "nodes").  with the actual aircraft floppies. These features will allow these devices to stay current with the aircraft navigational and operational software with minimal simulator (1) Software that enables the execution of an application written for a different computer environment. Same as emulator.
