Ximian, Inc., the leading open source desktop company, and Hewlett-Packard today announced that a preview release of the Ximian(TM) GNOME gnome (nōm), in folklore, tiny subterranean creature associated with mines and quarries. Ximian will be providing "Level III" support to HP technical support staff worldwide, which will be elevated to 24/7 once HP offers full support following the conclusion of the "preview" release period. HP intends to update the software and commence official support next year.
