Xilinx announces next gen free ISE WebPACK 5.2I design tool for reduced design costs and increased productivity.

Xilinx Inc. (Nasdaq:XLNX) has announced the latest version of the company's free, downloadable programmable logic development system--the Integrated Software Environment (ISE) WebPACK software. The design tool includes several new productivity and ease-of-use improvements, including an enhanced HTML Fitter Report with up to seven times faster report generation, native language support for equation display for VHDL, Verilog, and ABEL, and updated versions of many tools including ModelSim-II Xilinx Edition (MXE-II).

The company also announced that registered users of ISE WebPACK seats has exceeded 100,000--a major indication of the overwhelming acceptance of Xilinx's industry prevalent software for its CPLDs and Spartan and Virtex FPGAs. ISE WebPACK is a subset of the company's ISE Foundation design tools and includes a comprehensive tool suite for design entry, synthesis, verification, and implementation in a single integrated environment. The popularity and easy access of ISE WebPACK's error-free downloading and single file installation has resulted in nearly 40,000 new seats installed this past year.

ISE WebPACK 5.2i is available now and downloadable from the web at www.xilinx.com/ise/webpack5. ISE WebPACK 5.2i runs on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. ISE WebPACK 5.2i provides support for all Xilinx leading-edge PLD families, including CoolRunner-II CPLDs, Spartan-IIE FPGAs, and Virtex-II platform FPGAs.

ISE 5.2i delivers support for Xilinx's upcoming 90nm FPGAs and enhanced MultiGigabit Serial I/O transceivers, while continuing to deliver 20% better design performance and 15% better logic utilization than its nearest competitive solution. With ISE 5.2i, customers can use less expensive devices through performance and productivity leadership, driving design cost savings up to 50% lower than any other competitive solution.
