Xerox participates on the boards of the Imaging Supplies Coalition and the Anti-Gray Market Alliance, key international anti-counterfeiting associations. "Counterfeiting damages our reputation and brand in our customers' eyes," said Shenai. "We do everything we can to protect customer satisfaction and Xerox brand equity."

Xerox has worked to improve supplies packaging security, audit the Internet to uncover impostor sites, and eliminate illegal use of Xerox-branded supplies.

 Reconnaissance International, a leading authority on counterfeiting protection, counterfeiting worldwide is a $500 billion problem. Monetary proceeds from counterfeiting have been shown to fund criminal organizations and underwrite terrorism. Other major manufacturers are actively working along with Xerox to halt the flow of fake products and the theft of corporate intellectual property.

The award was presented to Xerox in Atlanta at the Authentication & Counterfeiting Protection Conference. The annual awards recognize companies, trade associations, public entities and press organizations who have excelled in the fight against product counterfeiting. This is the fourth year of the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Awards.
