Xerox Sets Standard for Speed, Functionality with New Wave of 12 Office Products.

NEW YORK -- WorkCentre Pro C3545 Advanced Multifunction System Redefines Office Color at Fastest Speeds in Its Class

Breaking speed barriers and making advancements in color in the office, Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced a new wave of offerings including seven powerful multifunction products, five digital copiers and software designed to boost the productivity of office workers.

Among the new products, the Xerox WorkCentre(R) Pro C3545 advanced color MFP is the fastest in its class, printing at 35 pages per minute in color and 45 ppm black-and-white. The systems offer a range of scanning, finishing and security options as well as advanced features such as automated meter reads and supplies ordering.

Xerox's new offerings were launched today at the TECHXNY technology trade show and include:

--The WorkCentre Pro C2128, C2636 and C3545 - advanced color MFPs that combine high-performance printing, copying, scanning and faxing into one easy-to-use office system.

--The WorkCentre Pro 123 and 128 - advanced monochrome MFPs that deliver enterprise-level scanning and finishing features designed for small to midsized businesses.

The WorkCentre Pro C2128, C2636 and C3545 color multifunction systems offer affordable, high-quality color output with the features and ease-of-use of a black-and-white device, starting at a list price of $12,995. They have speeds of 28 ppm to 45 ppm in black-and-white and 21 ppm to 35 ppm in color, a 733 MHz Intel(R) Celeron(R) printing processor, two 18GB hard disks, and a first-page-out time of 6.1 seconds for black-and-white and 8.5 seconds for color. These MFPs can quickly process and print large files such as color slides, spreadsheets, photo-filled newsletters and more. Customers can also choose the CopyCentre(R) C2128, C2636 and C3545, which are configured as digital color copiers.

These color-featured products deliver affordable printing and copying and are smart enough to know the difference between color and black-and-white pages, so customers only pay for the color they use. Per-page costs are as low as 8.9 cents for color and around a penny for black-and-white - which is comparable to a monochrome-only system.

The WorkCentre Pro 123 and 128 monochrome multifunction systems, operating at 23 and 28 pages per minute respectively, offer best-in-class scanning, media handling and copying starting at a list price of $10,289. With a 20GB hard drive, Adobe Postscript 3, a maximum paper capacity of 3,100 sheets and the ability to handle paper up to 110 lb. index, these systems have the power to quickly print complex office documents. These products are also available as WorkCentre M123 and M128 copier/printers, offering copy/print capabilities and optional fax, as well as CopyCentre C123 and C128 standalone digital copiers.

WorkCentre and WorkCentre Pro models come standard with 1,200 x 1,200 dpi print resolution. All the systems use Xerox's patented emulsion aggregation (EA) toner, which standardizes the size and shape of toner particles so customers' prints and copies have sharper image quality and fine line text.

Software and Solutions

Also being announced: Xerox's SMART eSolutions, a suite of software that simplifies the administration of Xerox devices on the network. The first two SMART eSolutions offerings are a MeterAssistant(TM) that automatically calculates and reports the number of prints or copies produced on an MFP and a SuppliesAssistant(TM) that automatically orders additional supplies such as toner cartridges as needed.

Xerox's FreeFlow SMARTsend(TM) software, announced earlier this year, will be available on the WorkCentre Pro products. The software converts, distributes and routes scanned documents in any format to where they are needed - e-mail, desktop, network file server, document management system, mailboxes or fax - allowing workers to operate seamlessly between the paper and digital world.

A host of standard and optional security features on the WorkCentre and WorkCentre Pro products help businesses keep sensitive information safe. Image Overwrite Protection deletes images on the system's hard drive immediately or on demand. Network authentication restricts access to scan, e-mail, and network fax features. Secure Print and Secure Fax hold jobs until an authorized user releases them for printing.

Pricing and Availability

List pricing for the WorkCentre Pro color advanced multifunction systems start at $12,995 and $11,495 for the CopyCentre color copiers; list pricing for the WorkCentre black and white copier/printers start at $5,719 and $4,399 for the CopyCentre digital copiers.

Order taking for all systems begins today in North America and shortly thereafter in Europe and other markets. SMART eSolutions and FreeFlow SMARTsend will be available in December. Sales, service and leasing are offered through the Xerox direct sales force, authorized sales agents, dealers, and TeleWeb sales channels.
