In addition, the DocuColor iGen3 used with the Xerox DocuSP Color Server -- a workstation that processes and delivers print files to the press -- has been Pantone(R) licensed, providing more accurate, consistent color control to users. The Xerox DocuColor 6060 with a DocuSP Color Server was one of the first digital production systems approved and licensed by Pantone. The DocuColor 6060 and iGen3, used in conjunction with the PANTONE digital chips book, will allow graphic designers and printers to get more consistent, accurate visualization Using the computer to convert data into picture form. The most basic visualization is that of turning transaction data and summary information into charts and graphs. Visualization is used in computer-aided design (CAD) to render screen images into 3D models that can be viewed from all and selection of PANTONE Colors before going to press on digital print jobs. Until now, Pantone only produced such books for offset printing presses. PANTONE digital chips books are specially created by Pantone and Xerox color scientists based on color engine, paper stock capabilities and other specifications. Additional DocuColor iGen3 Enhancements These new enhancements come on the heels of the expanded media range and additional feeding and finishing options announced in March: -- Based upon extensive testing, the DocuColor iGen3's recommended media range was expanded to stocks as heavy as 130-lb. cover stock, from the previous maximum of 110-lb. cover stock. The capability to print on heavier stocks enables the DocuColor iGen3 to print more applications such as packaging materials, point-of-purchase signs and report covers. -- Software enhancements permit the DocuColor iGen3 to run as many as four in-line feeding modules, four in-line stacker modules, a new post-processing inserter -- the industry's first in digital color production -- and in-line finishing. The DocuColor iGen3 now leads the industry with paper capacities up to 20,000 sheets and stackers accepting as many as 12,000 sheets for an unsurpassed level of uninterrupted operation. Three in-line finishing options are available: the Xerox SquareFold BookletMaker, Xerox Manual + Book Factory, and the GBC GBC Game Boy Color GBC Global Business Coalition GBC Green Building Council GBC George Brown College GBC Great Basin College (Nevada) GBC General Binding Corporation GBC Greater Baltimore Committee GBC Goldey-Beacom College In-line Fusion Punch II with an optional Off-line DigiCoil Binder binder: see combine. The Xerox SquareFold BookletMaker enables printers to produce creased signature booklets with full automation in-line on the iGen3. -- An inserter provides the capability to insert preprints and media into a job after the imaging and fusing process. The job is then automatically collated and delivered to the output tray. Media can include stocks such as cardboard separators and plastic tabs. The new capabilities increase the variety and complexity of documents that can be produced in-line, such as manuals and materials for binders. -- A software upgrade for the DocuColor iGen3 provides an enhanced stock library, which automates the process of selecting key specifications of papers and substrates -- such as color, weight and size -- to maximize system performance and image quality. Other enhancements include productivity, reliability and image quality adjustments. Pricing and Availability The oversize paper upgrade will be available in the fourth quarter 2004 at a U.S. suggested list price of $60,000. The UV coating system will be available in 2005. The DocuColor iGen3 feeders, stackers and inserter are available immediately at a U.S. suggested list price of $35,000 each. All products are available through the Xerox direct sales force. The software upgrade with the enhanced stock library will be installed free of charge by Xerox service representatives on regular maintenance calls.
