With the digital press, the company now offers clients quicker turnaround on print jobs, more flexibility to print on larger and heavier paper, and personalized printing, where content and images change from page to page.

Based on its early success, Xerographic Digital Printing has already placed an order for a second Xerox iGen3 press.

"The iGen3 allows us to be more than a printer," said Keith Kemp, co-owner, Xerographic Digital Printing. "With personalized printing we're not just producing a job, we can get deeper into our customers' business and actually help them grow revenue with customized marketing campaigns. We expect our digital printing business to grow as much as 60 percent in the next three to five years, and the Xerox iGen3 will be the major factor in driving that growth."

Xerographic Digital Printing plans to use the 100 page-per-minute Xerox iGen3 press and a digital workflow In print publishing, using the computer to lay out text and illustrations prior to creating film negatives for every page or going directly to plate. Prior to digital workflow, the typesetting and pre-press stages were far more time consuming and labor-intensive.  to produce personalized marketing Personalized marketing (also called personalization, and sometimes called one-to-one marketing) is an extreme form of product differentiation. Whereas product differentiation tries to differentiate a product from competing ones, personalization tries to make a unique product  pieces for resort, hospitality, real estate and automotive clients.

For example, a resort company could create and send a personalized direct mail piece that includes information targeted to a specific consumer. The piece could reference the consumer's recent stay at the resort property, while promoting a future stay at another of the resort's properties that would match their unique interests or preferences. And real estate agents can now send a customized mailing to residents about new property.

In fact, Xerographic Digital Printing will target existing and prospective customers with a direct mail campaign promoting its own services that will be produced on the iGen3 press. Over the next three to five years, Xerographic Digital Printing expects 40 percent of its business to come from personalized documents.

Xerographic Digital Printing also plans to produce short-run print jobs with quick turnaround, including book covers, brochures, fliers and coupons. The company had been producing about 100,000 digital color prints each month on the Xerox DocuColor 2045 Digital Color Press, but it expects to increase that number to more than 500,000 with the iGen3 press.

The company researched competitive products but found that the image quality of the Xerox iGen3 was in a class of its own.

"The output from the iGen3 press just looked awesome with quality rivaling traditional offset printing," said Steve Ebanks, co-owner, Xerographic Digital Printing.
