Xcel Energy Offering Customers `Energy Makeover'.

 can join in on the increasingly popular boom in home improvement programs this fall through "Energy Makeover," a recently announced contest sponsored by the Colorado Colorado, state, United States

Similar to a number of television shows sweeping the nation related to home improvement, Energy Makeover will provide two customers in the area with more than $25,000 worth of energy efficiency improvements to their homes, which will be detailed to all consumers and the news media throughout the year.

"We want to be able to show consumers the various ways they can make energy efficient improvements, which in turn can lower their energy bills, make their homes more comfortable and valuable, and help the environment," said Heather Tooker, Xcel Energy vice president for marketing and sales.

Energy Makeover from Xcel Energy is open for eligible applicants through Oct. 15, 2004. For more information on the contest or to register online, visit www.xcelenergy.com or www.energyscience.org.

Improvements will include the installation of new windows, revamped insulation insulation (ĭn'səlā`shən, ĭn'sy–), use of materials or devices to inhibit or prevent the conduction of heat or of electricity. , new high-efficiency appliances, and heating and cooling system cooling system: see air conditioning; internal-combustion engine; refrigeration.
