Xceive Begins Production Shipments of its All Standards, All Silicon, Single Chip, TV Tuner ICs.SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- OEM Customers to Receive Xceive's Production XC3028(TM) and XC2028(TM) 7 X 7 mm Universal TV Tuner ICs Xceive(R) Corporation (www.xceive.com) announced today that it is shipping production quantities of its latest all-TV-standards, XC3028(TM) and XC2028(TM) RF-to-baseband TV tuner ICs. These small all-standards TV tuner chips represent an enabling technology for the development of innovative products such as faster, universal television receivers offering top-of-the-line quality. The Xceive tuner products provide faster channel tuning, better signal to noise ratio and universal TV standards compatibility for high end HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates and large screen LCD display TVs. Xceive's XC3028 and XC2028 single-chip 7 X 7 mm, 48-pin MLF silicon tuners replace the traditional double conversion "can" tuners, yielding an order of magnitude A change in quantity or volume as measured by the decimal point. For example, from tens to hundreds is one order of magnitude. Tens to thousands is two orders of magnitude; tens to millions is three orders of magnitude, etc. reduction in size. The new Xceive single chip tuners provide low power consumption and up to ten times faster channel scanning than traditional TV tuners. The XC3028 tunes all digital and analog standard TV signals, whereas, the XC2028 provides universal analog TV tuning. The XC3028 and XC2028 achieve the highest level of RF-to-baseband integration on the market and their proprietary on-board DSP architecture uniquely combines all TV standards into a single tuner IC, eliminating the need for external SAW filters. With a universal TV standards architecture, Xceive's TV tuner ICs eliminate the need for OEMs to maintain multiple tuner inventories to service a global market. "We are encouraged by the acceptance of our new XC3028 and XC2028 receiver front ends. Television equipment manufacturers are now offering some exciting innovations," said Jordan Du Val, Xceive's vice president of sales and marketing. "Xceive, with its newest receiver front ends, has now made available even more opportunities for innovation. Using our tuners, TV OEMs can design better products that tune faster and are smaller and easier to manufacture. All of these features open up the possibility of new personal computer television applications, as well as high performance, high-end television receiver products." Technical Specifications Performance specifications include a typical video signal to noise ratio (S/N) of 55 dB, an over all noise figure of 6 dB, and typical phase noise of -85 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz. The onboard low noise amplifier (LNA) has intermodulation distortion as measured by the third order intercept point (IIP3) of 10 dBm. This receiver has a tuning range from 42 to 862 MHz. The system settling time is 10 ms. The Xceive XC3028 is built on a 0.18 micron SiGe BiCMOS process. The XC3028 supports all terrestrial digital and analog as well as cable TV standards. This support includes DVB-C See DVB. , ISDB-T ISDB-T Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial , DVB-T See DVB. , ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) An international digital television (DTV) standard adopted by the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Taiwan and Argentina. , and DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) A cable modem standard from the CableLabs research consortium (www.cablelabs.com), which provides equipment certification for interoperability. digital demodulators and onboard support for the NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries. Both the committee and the standard are called "NTSC. , PAL and SECAM (SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire, Sequential Color with Memory) A color TV standard from France that was officially introduced in 1967. Although development began in 1956, it took time to convert from the earlier French 819-line system. TV standards including B/G, D/KI, L/L' and M/N standards. The XC3028 control interface is IIC serial bus compliant. The XC3028 accepts a standard 75 Ohm antenna feed and can handle a maximum voltage standing wave ratio In telecommunications, standing wave ratio (SWR) is the ratio of the amplitude of a partial standing wave at an antinode (maximum) to the amplitude at an adjacent node (minimum), in an electrical transmission line. (VSWR VSWR Voltage Standing Wave Ratio VSWR Vertical Standing Wave Ratio ) of 2.5:1. The IC consumes about one watt and requires supply voltages of 1.8 and 3.3 volts. The XC3028 is a 7 X 7 X 0.85 mm MicroLeadFrame (MLF) surface mount 48-pin package. The XC2028 is similar to the X3028 except the XC2028 offers an analog subset of the TV standards and the performance specifications differ slightly. The XC2028 has an over all noise figure of 8 dB and typical phase noise of -80 dBc/Hz at 10kHz. Volume orders are now being accepted.
