NDS the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay TV announces that more leading vendors are joining the XTV Ready Program to enable Consumer Electronics (CE) devices to be integrated with NDS's XTV world's leading PVR platform. Archos, Humax, Maxian, Pace Micro Technology, SanDisk and Thomson join XTV Ready program. Samsung joined the program as an early member in June 2005.

Set-top boxes (STBs) utilizing NDS XTV incorporate one or more USB ports. By enabling secure connectivity between CE devices, such as portable media players, digital cameras/camcorders etc, and the XTV PVR solution TV operators can enrich the consumer experience with new ways to view, manage and share content.

NDS' XTV Ready is a plug-and-play solution that serves as the infrastructure for managing interaction between CE devices and the XTV PVR:

--Identification: whether the manufacturer and device model are approved for connection

--Discovery: device functionality with a particular XTV model

--Activation: the establishment of the ongoing connection between the device and XTV

--Management: CRM events, software upgrades, promotions, rebates, accessories

The XTV Ready Program guides partners through development and testing of the technological solutions required to connect and integrate their devices with XTV applications, via the USB port. Becoming XTV Ready is a key step in simplifying the device's ability to seamlessly connect to XTV PVRs across multiple pay-TV platforms. To complete the integration with a deployed XTV PVR, the manufacturer needs to reach a commercial agreement with the specific pay-TV platform.

At IBC, NDS together with the XTV Ready Program partners will showcase some of the unique scenarios enabled by the synergy between the XTV PVR platform and CE devices:

--Exciting XTV connectivity of leading PMP devices getting secure premium video content protected with SVP(TM) content protection technology

--Music jukebox solution for the management and secure distribution of bundled music content (mp3 tracks, video clips, album art and metadata) from the XTV platform to on-the-go devices and mobile phones

--Photos and home movies uploaded to the XTV box for a compelling way to enjoy home videos and edit them at the TV set
