 XSOFT, A DIVISION OF XEROX, ANNOUNCES DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
 SOFTWARE PRODUCTS AND STRATEGIC ALLIANCES
 PALO ALTO, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- XSoft, a division of Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX), has announced three document management software products, and a series of agreements with national software distributors and value-added resellers.
 "We believe these announcements, combined with the powerful PC-based software products we have brought to market over the past month, clearly position XSoft as a leading supplier of document- focused software solutions, as well as our strong commitment to open systems," said Dennis W. Andrews, president of XSoft.
 The division announced:
 -- GlobalView 3.2 Desktop, a set of modular, affordable, interoperable and open applications that combines ease-of-use with powerful document editing applications and allows users access to distributed document services and advanced applications for PC and Sun SPARC platforms;
 -- Document Services for Sun, the icon-based distributed document services that run under Sun OS on a variety of Sun SPARC platforms; and
 -- GLOBALVIEW for the PC enhancement, which brings the full suite of GLOBALVIEW desktop applications to PCs with the Microchannel architecture.
 In addition, XSoft and Lotus Development Corporation have formed a strategic relationship to provide interoperability between GLOBALVIEW and Lotus 1-2-3 for Unix. The first step in the Lotus relationship is GLOBALVIEW Link to Lotus, which enables customers to use the world's most popular spreadsheet easily with GLOBALVIEW.
 XSoft also announced its move to a multiple-channel distribution strategy. It announced agreements with Ingram Micro, a leading software distributor, EggHead, a major software retailer, and GTSI, a leading supplier of software solutions to the government and GST, a leading European software Republisher
 XSoft also announced relationships with a nationwide network of value-added resellers (VARs) who provide software and systems solutions to a variety of industries: CNN, Cognition, Highland Digital, ITAL Business Computer Systems, Mandis Corp., MicroData Systems, Opticomp, Pyramid Business Systems, Systran Translation Systems, Automation Image, Business Imaging Systems, Dynamic Systems Solutions, X Systems, ERI, Imaging Services Group, Select Sales, Baystate, United Data Systems, Technology Solutions Company and Universal Systems.
 XSoft will continue to utilize the worldwide network of direct sales personnel from Xerox Corporation in the United States, Xerox Canada, Rank Xerox in European markets and Fuji Xerox in the Far East.
 The long-term strategy of XSoft is to develop modular document management services independent of networks, hardware, platforms and operating systems, graphical user interfaces (GUI), and applications, Andrews said.
 These services, he said, would provide client interface applications and enhanced document services, such as text search and retrieval, library services and conversions; enhanced paper clients; and the integration of advanced technology, such as the Information Visualizer - a 3D data access and retrieval technology. "By leveraging the technological leadership and unique heritage of Xerox," Andrews said, "XSoft's mission is to provide products and support that help customers in worldwide markets harness their creativity, thoughts and experience through advanced document management."
 XSoft recently announced two PC-based software products. PaperWorks allows people to retrieve, distribute, store and organize documents remotely, using customized forms that carry instructions to computers through fax machines. Rooms for Windows enhances and simplifies the graphical user interface of Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1.
 GLOBALVIEW 3.2 modules begin at $1,495; Document Services for Sun is priced at an entry level of $3,200; Viewboard MCA, a GLOBALVIEW PC enhancement, is priced at $850.
