XEROX EXPANDS 5090 DUPLICATOR MARKETING TO LATIN AMERICA

ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Xerox 5090 duplicator, Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) flagship high-volume reprographics system, is expanding into new markets. The duplicator is now available in Mexico and Brazil, where no other duplicator in its speed and volume range is available.
The 5090 will be marketed in these countries by Xerox Americas Customer Operations (ACO). Xerox is also studying opportunities for the 5090 duplicator in other Latin American countries. The 5090 has been available in the United States, Canada and Europe since late 1988.
The high-volume printing markets in Mexico and Brazil are dominated by offset printing presses, according to Pat Martin, president of ACO. "These countries have high demand for fast turnaround, high image quality and in-line finishing -- strong points of the 5090," he says. "Customers there will now have a more productive and cost-effective alternative."
The 5090 duplicator will continue to be manufactured in Webster, N.Y.
The 5090 is a 135 copy-per-minute (cpm) duplicator with features designed to enhance the quality and productivity of customer document printing operations.
The duplicator's touch-screen user interface allows jobs to be programmed ahead, keeping the print engine running almost continuously. It can copy originals up to 12 by 17 inches on to paper sizes from 8 by 10 inches up to 11 by 17 inches. In-line finishing on the 5090 includes tape binding and stapling.
