XEROX ELECTS BRITISH TELECOM EXECUTIVE TO BE COMPANY'S CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 STAMFORD, Conn., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Barry D. Romeril has been elected an executive vice president and chief financial officer of Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX), effective July 1, the company announced today.
 Romeril, 49, has been group finance director for British Telecommunications plc in London since 1988.
 He assumes the chief financial officer post that has been vacant at Xerox since 1990 when Stuart B. Ross became chairman and chief executive officer of Xerox Financial Services, Inc.
 Among functions for which Romeril will be responsible are control, treasury, tax and audit, plus business development and business strategy.
 In addition, he becomes a member of the Xerox corporate office, joining Paul A. Allaire, chairman and chief executive officer; two other executive vice presidents, Wayland R. Hicks and A. Barry Rand, and three senior vice presidents, William F. Buehler, Allan E. Dugan and Mark B. Myers.
 Prior to joining British Telecom, Romeril spent over three years with BTR, Inc., and BTR plc, and 14 years with Imperial Chemical Industries plc. Included in assignments for these London-based companies were two tours in the United States, 1985 to 1987 as U.S. chief financial officer for BTR, Inc., and 1976 to 1978 as assistant treasurer of ICI Americas.
 Romeril, originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, is a British citizen. He graduated from Oxford University in 1966 with an honors degree in economics and is a certified accountant.
