X-45C SYSTEM REVIEW A SUCCESS.Byline: Daily News EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway. - Boeing said it successfully completed a review with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S. government agency administered by the Department of Defense (see Defense, United States Department of). , Air Force and Navy officials on its joint unmanned combat air systems Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems, or J-UCAS, was the name for the joint U.S. Navy/U.S. Air Force unmanned combat air vehicle procurement project. The two vehicles involved in the project were the Boeing X-45 and Northrop Grumman X-47. (J-UCAS J-UCAS Joint Unmanned Combat Air System ) X-45C system requirements To be used efficiently, all computer software needs certain hardware components or other software resources to be present on a computer system. These pre-requisites are known as (computer) system requirements and are often used as a guideline as opposed to an absolute rule. . The two-day review was a joint assessment into whether the aircraft incorporates the Pentagon's performance requirements, Boeing officials in St. Louis announced. A final design review will occur this summer. ``This review confirms the X-45C system we designed and are building is on track and is the right solution to meet the customers' needs,'' said Darryl Davis, Boeing's Global Strike Solutions vice president. Boeing will build and demonstrate three X-45C vehicles and two mission control elements. The first X-45C will be completed in 2006, with flight-testing scheduled to begin in early 2007. Flown by computers, the X-45C will be assessed on its ability to attack enemy anti-aircraft missile and radar sites, do surveillance and reconnaissance flights, and attack targets for the Air Force and Navy. The X-45C will be 39 feet long with a 49-foot wingspan, cruise at an altitude of 40,000 feet, carry a 4,500-pound weapon payload, and be able to fly to and from targets more than 1,300 miles away. Boeing previously built two smaller X-45A vehicles, which are currently being tested from NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center The Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), located inside Edwards Air Force Base, is an aeronautical research center operated by NASA. On March 26, 1976 it was named in honor of the late Hugh L. at Edwards Air Force Base.
