X Inside Introduces New High-Performance WIndows 95 X Server; Accelerated X for Windows 95 Offers Local Client Support and 20 Percent Greater Performance Than Competitive Products.

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
 X servers, announced the availability of Accelerated X for Windows '95, a streamlined PC X server that delivers maximum performance in a small package.

Accelerated X for Windows '95 is contained on only four disks and has an installed executable size of under 6MB; yet its performance is up to 20% faster than competitive PC X servers.

With the rapid adoption of Windows '95 by corporate and system OEMs, a high performance, reliable X server with local client support becomes a critical part of corporate strategy. As with all X Inside's products, Accelerated X for Windows 95 offers higher performance and strong local-client support than competitive products at a competitive price point.

As part of X Inside's introduction of Accelerated X for Windows 95, the company has developed a competitive trade-in program to make the cost benefits even more enticing. For a limited time, users may purchase the new Accelerated X for $75 per license when they trade-in any competitors' WIndows 3.X Windows 3.x can refer to either an individual or all of the following versions of Microsoft Windows:
  • Windows 3.0
  • Windows 3.1x
These should not be confused with the first three releases of Windows NT, which were also given "3.x" version numbers, i.e.
, Windows '95-ready, or Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  X server.

Installation

Accelerated X installation is streamlined, simple and fast for users. Run setup and the product queries the system and installs itself in minutes. Network installation is available. X Inside also has an uninstall To remove hardware or software from a computer system. In order to remove a software application from a PC, an uninstall program, also called an "uninstaller," deletes all the files that were initially copied to the hard disk and restores the AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI and SYSTEM.  feature that removes all components of Accelerated X.

Configuration

Configuration is easy and painless through Accelerated X's configuration facility which emphasizes point-and-click simplicity. All settings are clearly presented and are only one menu deep. Configuration of nodes can be accomplished by Accelerated X's remote configuration application.

) contained in Accelerated X provides an easy way to gain additional desktop area and launch Windows or X-based applications. Designated application windows are automatically shadowed and placed in the Accelerated X Application Control Workspace for repeat application launching. The Workspace Manager shows applications in representative size, position, and window overlap. The intuitive Accelerated X Workspace Manager is easy to set up and operate.

Local Client Support

Accelerated X for Windows '95 supports local clients running under Windows. Local clients supplied with Accelerated X for Windows '95 are a remote Windows console, and all of the standard X11R6 distribution client set. A Windows '95 console can be directed to any X device for remote logging.

Accelerated X for Windows '95 has the ability to run local and remote Window managers simultaneously, as well as make current connections to TCP/IP TCP/IP

Performance

Accelerated X's performance is up to 20% faster than Windows '95-based X servers today, and supports Windows '95 on Intel, Alpha and MIPS (Million Instructions Per Second) The execution speed of a computer. For example, .5 MIPS is 500,000 instructions per second; 100 MIPS is a hundred million instructions per second. . Accelerated X is a 32-bit Windows software product that fully utilizes multiprocessor systems. List price for Accelerated X for Windows '95 is $399.95 per user.
