``I just tried to throw some good runs together, and hopefully put something big out there,'' Burnside said.

Interestingly, Burnside cut back her practice time leading up to X Games this year in order to work with a group she's helped put together that focuses on increasing attention for women's skateboarding. One of the group's objectives is to raise the sport's profile, and hopefully increase the winner's purse earnings.

Bestwick has converted the trick just one other time, but that was on a foam, plastic-covered practice ramp. Nevertheless, at the midway point of Saturday's 45-minute competition he felt comfortable enough to give it a go. After nailing it, Bestwick just sat and watched the remaining 20 minutes, knowing the gold was likely his.

``I don't pump myself up too much, but that was pretty spectacular,'' said Bestwick, who also won a gold medal in the BMX Vert competition on Thursday. ``I was grinning from ear-to-ear when I knew my pedals were on my feet and my bike was pointed in the same direction as the wall. It was a great moment, these are the days you have to cherish.''

It was Harf's fourth career-gold medal in the event.

The highlight was a switch 900 with a heelside grab off a double-up.

``I feel great about winning this year because last year I had such a rough time,'' said the 20-year old Harf, who finished ninth last year and missed the finals. ``It feels good to come back from such bad bounces last year.''

Defending champ Phillip Soven took the silver while Josh Sanders earned the bronze.
