Wyse expands GOV initiative by adding its secure, managed Winterm thin clients to GSA schedule.

Wyse Technology has announced its complete line of Wyse Winterm products has been approved for inclusion on the General Services Administration The General Services Administration (GSA) was established by section 101 of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 (40 U.S.C.A. § 751). The GSA sets policy for and manages government property and records.  (GSA (1) (Global mobile Suppliers Association, Sawbridgeworth, U.K., www.gsacom.com) A membership organization of suppliers of GSM products and services. This new GSA schedule allows agencies to further benefit from the security, manageability and reliability offered by thin-client computing, while saving them additional time and money when purchasing important information technology.

Wyse Winterm thin clients are already available through Federal contracts, including Authorized au·thor·ize

Wyse's PCHS-2 participation has allowed VA Hospitals to easily deploy thousands of Winterm thin clients at locations across the country and easily roll out additional devices as necessary. To further support the company's expansion in the Federal government market, Wyse has increased its Washington D.C.-based sales force, creating a dedicated sales and account team. This new resource will allow government agencies to reap the benefits of Wyse's complete line of Section 508 compliant thin-clients. In addition, all Wyse Winterm thin clients now comply with Trade America Act (TAA TAA - Track Average Amplitude ) standards, and are manufactured in U.S. sanctioned locations with U.S. material.

"Recent national events have heightened the security requirements of Federal government agencies, who are increasingly deploying Wyse thin client solutions due to the devices' overall manageability and inherent security advantages over PCs," said David Bachman, Federal manager at Wyse Technology. "Wyse's presence on the GSA schedule and PSHS-2 contract, combined with the efforts we have made in other regulatory areas, ensure that these agencies have easy access to our products while complying with acquisition requirements."

Wyse Winterm thin clients support 128-bit encryption The reversible transformation of data from the original (the plaintext) to a difficult-to-interpret format (the ciphertext) as a mechanism for protecting its confidentiality, integrity and sometimes its authenticity. Unlike PCs, which usually store information both on a server and locally on the desktop, Wyse Winterm thin clients access server-based data and do not store information on the devices themselves. This ensures that information can be easily managed, protected and co-located for quick recovery if desktops are damaged, or if local offices are damaged or inaccessible for any reason.
