Wyse(R) Technology, the worldwide leader in secure, managed thin clients, today announced it is spinning off the management software portion of its business and creating an independent company, Rapport Technologies Inc. Wyse formed Rapport Technologies Inc. to develop an industry standard for embedded Inserted into. Rapport Technologies Inc. will operate as an independent U.S.-based company, with Wyse Technology serving as Rapport Technologies' initial channel of distribution for Rapport(TM) Management Software to the end customer. Wyse will continue to market, sell and support the Wyse Rapport(TM) branded management software with its own VAR channel and direct customers. Max Toy, formerly vice president of business initiatives at Wyse Technology, has been appointed president of Rapport Technologies Inc. The company will be located in North Dallas North Dallas is an expansive area of numerous communities and neighborhoods in Dallas, Texas, (USA). It spans portions of three counties: Collin, Dallas, and Denton, and has strong social ties to two enclaves of Dallas (University Park and Highland Park) and a near-enclave , TX, near Wyse Technology's Carrolton, TX-based development facility.

It has always been Wyse's goal to extend Rapport management software beyond the traditional enterprise thin-client market. There are millions of thin clients installed today, which represents only a small fraction of the wide variety of devices that people use to communicate, including handheld PDAs, personal computers, cell phones, etc. A major challenge to maximizing the usefulness of these devices and keeping the cost of using them to a minimum is that there is no industry standard for embedded device management. Wyse Rapport is already the industry standard in the thin-client market, with more than 400,000 devices from multiple vendors currently supported, and Rapport Technologies Inc. will build upon Wyse's previous development efforts to make Rapport the standard in other embedded device markets.

"Wyse Technology is the domain expert in the thin-client market, and to grow the space, we will cultivate the thin-client ecosystem -- from the server, through the network, to the desktop," said John Stringer string·er
