WulfKit High-Speed Interconnect now supports Itanium 2 processor-based server clusters.

WulfKit, the server clustering system developed by Dolphin Interconnect Solutions Dolphin Interconnect Solutions (OSE: DOLP) is a manufacturer of high speed data communication systems, located in Oslo, Norway (headquarters) and Natick, Massachusetts, USA (US Customer Support and Logistics. , now provides Message Passing Interface (communications, protocol) Message Passing Interface - A de facto standard for communication among the nodes running a parallel program on a distributed memory system. MPI is a library of routines that can be called from Fortran and programs.  (MPI MPI - Message Passing Interface ) communication libraries for server clusters based on the Intel Itanium 2 processor. Developed by Dolphin partner Scali AS of Oslo, Norway, the new MPI middleware supports data transfer rates in excess of 320 Mbytes/sec with less than 4 microseconds latency between user processes in different cluster nodes. The middleware is available immediately.

"The release of MPI support for Itanium 2-based platforms underscores Dolphin's commitment to providing a high-performance computing solution for superclusters based on the latest processors available," said Keith Murphy, VP Sales for Dolphin Interconnect Solutions.

The Intel Itanium 2 processor is the second in the Itanium processor family, a line of enterprise-class processors from Intel that brings the performance and volume economics of Intel Architecture to the most data-intensive business-critical and technical computing applications. Itanium 2-based systems deliver up to twice the performance of Itanium-based systems, and the Itanium 2 processor is socket-compatible with two future generations of Itanium family processors to allow them to be easily swapped into existing Itanium 2-based systems.
