ARLINGTON, Tenn. -- New Tapered Stem Design Joins Wright's Family of Hip Implant Systems;

Ideally Suited for Minimally Invasive Surgical Approach

Wright Medical Group, Inc. The new rounded, tapered stem design reduces the potential for implant loosening and thigh pain and requires the removal of less bone from within the femoral canal. The tapered stem feature complements the PROFEMUR(R) system's innovative modular neck design, which is specially suited for use with a smaller surgical incision.

The PROFEMUR(R) Tapered Stem Total Hip System is an integral part of Wright's ODYSSEY(sm) Tissue Preserving Initiative, a minimally invasive surgery program for hip, knee and total joint resurfacing procedures. Although many orthopaedic manufacturers and surgeons have developed minimally invasive techniques, Wright offers the only solution that includes an implant system with a design that specifically addresses the most common challenges associated with a minimally invasive approach. The PROFEMUR(R) Hip System's modular neck feature simplifies implant insertion and reduces the risk of soft-tissue damage.
