Leading Travel Reservation Technology Provider An Early Adopter

Of DataMirror Transformation Server for OS/390

DataMirror Corporation (TSE:DMC - news), today announces that Worldspan(R)L.P., a leading travel reservation technology provider based in Atlanta, Georgia, is an early adopter of Transformation Server for OS/390. Worldspan provides global communications and electronic distribution of information for the world's leading travel service providers and supplies reservation services to over 18,000 travel agencies worldwide.

&uot;Since November '99, we have been using Transformation Server to move customer data in real-time between our mainframes and an Oracle 8 database on UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
,&uot; said Chris Frawley, Data Architect at Worldspan. &uot;We are very pleased with the performance and ease of use, as well as the level of support DataMirror has been able to provide. Transformation Server is a key component of our data infrastructure going forward because it helps us manage three critical business and technology issues: data quality standards, time to market pressures and support for a diverse mix of distributed database A database physically stored in two or more computer systems. Although geographically dispersed, a distributed database system manages and controls the entire database as a single collection of data.  and platform technologies.&uot;

DataMirror also announces major enhancements to its Transformation Server for OS/390 software including full bi-directional support. Transformation Server for OS/390 enables organizations to integrate and access critical business data rapidly and efficiently across their organizations. Now customers can integrate their valuable mainframe systems and data with other enterprise systems for e-business, business intelligence, and other distributed data applications.

 Meta Group, many companies are finding it more strategic than ever to maintain legacy systems. &uot;Far too many enterprises still fumble around with hand-coded legacy data extract procedures, leaving themselves at risk when business rules, data structures, data velocity and data volumes change,&uot; says Doug Laney, senior program director with META Group. &uot;Solutions, such as DataMirror's, should offer performance-oriented and highly maintainable data integration for an increasingly complex world of intra-enterprise and inter-enterprise data mobility.&uot;

This new release of Transformation Server for OS/390 provides full bi-directional capabilities for sharing OS/390 based DB2 data in real-time with Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server A relational DBMS from Microsoft that is a major component of the Windows Server System. It is Microsoft's high-end client/server database and is closely integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft Office System.  databases on a variety of computing platforms including UNIX, Linux, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. &uot;In the Internet era, flexible, high performance solutions for integrating mainframe data stores with midrange computers and mobile users can be essential to gaining competitive advantage,&uot; said Nigel Stokes, Chairman, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of DataMirror. &uot;More than half of the world's business data still resides on mainframes. The challenge is how to make this data easily accessible to e-commerce applications, corporate decision-makers and mobile users. Transformation Server for OS/390 provides customers with a key component of infrastructure for dot-com initiatives because it allows them to leverage mainframe data out into client/server and web-based environments.&uot;

Get Started Promotion

&uot;I am also pleased to announce that this new version of Transformation Server for OS/390 will be introduced with an aggressive &uot;Get Started&uot; promotion for early adopters,&uot; continued Mr. Stokes. &uot;Customers purchasing the product before March 1, 2000 will receive 50% off the license price. With this special promotion, companies can avoid costly custom programming interfaces or older integration technologies as they implement e-business and legacy data integration projects.&uot;
