One who practices vegetarianism. Congress will take place at the Costao de Santinho Resort & Spa in Florianopolis, Brazil, from November 8-14, 2004. This world meeting of vegetarians is sponsored by the International Vegetarian Union The International Vegetarian Union (IVU) was founded in 1908 when the first World Vegetarian Congress was held in Dresden, Germany. The idea for IVU came from the French Vegetarian Society, the first Congress was organized internationally by the British Society and locally by the , <www.ivu.org>, together with the Brazilian Vegetarian Society The Vegetarian Society is a British registered charity established on 30 September 1847 with the aim of promoting understanding and respect for vegetarian lifestyles.
