World Class Notes.Congratulations to the Schweitzer International Center of Framingham State College Framingham State College, at Framingham, Mass.; chartered 1838, opened 1839 at Lexington, moved to Framingham 1853, a normal school until 1930. Formerly known as the Massachusetts State Teachers College, it adopted its present name in 1960. , Massachusetts, on the initial publication of its newsletter World Class Notes! The Schweitzer International Center is one of six regional centers established by grants from Bay State Skills Corporation to help teachers internationalize in·ter·na·tion·al·ize tr.v. in·ter·na·tion·al·ized, in·ter·na·tion·al·iz·ing, in·ter·na·tion·al·iz·es 1. To make international. 2. To put under international control. the curriculum in Massachusetts' K-12 classrooms. Each center serves as a regional resource for teachers. This newsletter aptly informs teachers of happenings throughout the state and provides names of experts available to visit schools and speak on a variety of areas. Additionally, World Class Notes reviews curricula, books and multimedia materials that deal with global education and multicultural issues of interest to teachers beyond the borders of Massachusetts. While the newsletter's feature articles are helpful, one section in the "Five Secrets of Global Education" might need clarification. The author suggests that teachers "Be comprehensive. Know more than maps and geography. Introduce history, politics, family life, customs, religion and languages." Her treatment of geography is rather restrictive and outdated. Geography draws from both the physical and social sciences. Overall, the newsletter is to be commended on its maiden voyage into the world of publications. It invites thought with many quotable quot·a·ble adj.
