World Ag Expo draws record numbers.
The 37th annual World Ag Expo, Tulare Tulare (təlâr`, t lâr`ē), city (1990 pop. 33,249), Tulare co., S central Calif., in the San Joaquin valley; inc. 1888. It is a growing processing and shipping center for a farm, cotton, and dairy region., Calif., drew record numbers of visitors and exhibitors, including a visit from California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In addition to speaking at the Expo, the Governor met in closed-door session with nationally known agriculture leaders, including representatives of the California Farm Bureau Federation, Western Growers Association and California Grape and Tree Fruit Association. The show, which features speakers, seminars, demonstrations, exhibits, farm tours and tractor pulls, also drew visitors from around the world, with nearly 800 registered international visitors representing 48 countries. "What an exciting show this has been," said 2004 World Ag Expo chairperson Margaret Uchita. "This is a time of enormous growth in recognition of agriculture."
