Abortion OK'd in Mexico City

Mexico City lawmakers voted to legalize abortion during the first three months of pregnancy, a landmark decision likely to heighten church-state tensions in the largely Roman Catholic nation and lead to a bitter court battle. The bill, approved 46-19 with one abstention, will take effect with the expected signing by the mayor.

CAMBODIA: Cambodia's police chief, visiting the U.S. to discuss anti-terror tactics, was urged to do more to combat human trafficking in his homeland. In '05, the U.S. denied Hok Lundy a visa due to "credible evidence" of his complicity in human trafficking, a former State Dept. official said.

ISRAEL: The chief government watchdog urged a criminal probe into a business deal by Ehud Olmert before he became prime minister.

CANADA: Claiming product piracy in China is costing it billions of dollars, the gov't asked to join the U.S. in WTO talks aimed at pressuring Beijing to enforce intellectual property rights.
