110 children rescued off Ireland

The Irish coast guard rescued some 110 children from the sea after a sudden squall hit their sailboats, Irish officials said. The children, ages 10 to 15, were taking part in the National Yacht Club junior regatta when the squall capsized 91 boats in the Irish Sea south of Dublin.

MEXICO: Rescuers digging through mud and rocks have recovered at least 14 bodies from a bus buried on a rural road after a mountainside gave way, officials said.

GREAT BRITAIN: Police searched for evidence Thursday in a Scottish house that may have been used to produce the makeshift bombs that failed to explode in three attempted terror attacks on London and the Glasgow airport, officials and news reports said.

NIGERIA: Gunmen smashed in the windows of a car carrying a British girl to school and kidnapped the 3-year-old, in the first seizure of a foreign child in Nigeria's increasingly lawless oil region.
