In Swarovski's FIBRE OPTIC LIGHTING systems, light is first diffracted by using fiber optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber  and then refracted re·fract

This technology permits objects such as display cabinets -- or a one-ton octahedron to be illuminated without the usual generation of heat. As you can imagine, keeping the world's largest man-made crystal clean is no easy task. The crystal octahedron was custom designed by D. Swarovski & Co. for GIA, and represents the shape of a natural diamond crystal. Obviously, brilliance and sparkle are imperative. That's why a special coating was added to the aluminum in order to prevent fading. In addition, a climate controlled glass housing the octahedron has a mirrored bottom to reflect the sunlight while a mirrored ceiling creates an illusion of diamonds in the sky. So, everyone will be happy to know -- no squeegees or glass cleaners are required. 11. How crystals entered the world of fashion

Before the 1920s, jewelry only contained "real" stones or "imitation." Coco Chanel Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel (August 19, 1883 – January 10, 1971)[1] was a pioneering French fashion designer whose modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her arguably the most important figure in the history  brought costume jewelry costume jewelry

to a new level. She mixed real stones with rhinestones and proved that style and design are just as important as the use of costly materials. Today, Swarovski crystals are produced in hundreds of thousands of sizes, colors and shape. These Crystal Components provide designers and manufacturers of jewelry and fashion accessories Fashion accessories are items apart from the garment itself, which complement the whole outfit. Fashion accessories include jewelry, gloves, handbags, hats, or scarves.  with a precious raw material they can use to design wonderful creations. Interestingly enough, at International jewelry auctions, art deco art deco (ärt dĕkō`; är dākō`, ärt) or art moderne (är môdĕrn`, ärt)  costume jewelry pieces sometimes fetch higher prices than jewelry featuring gemstones. 12. Swarovski Crystal -- From Stage to Fashion

Now, decorative motifs made of small stones applied to fabric, crystal buttons, zippers, crystal chains, are all used in today's fashions.
