 Extension classes March 10-27. GIA, long-known as the world's foremost authority in gemology, will provide instruction on how to identify and grade diamonds, colored gemstones, and pearls.

The classes will be held at Stuller Inc., located at 302 Rue Louis XIV Louis XIV, king of France

. Students will have an exclusive opportunity to tour the facilities at Stuller. This will be the only time this year that GIA's world-renowned Extension instructors, along with specialized gemological equipment, will be traveling to Louisiana.

GIA, creators of the International Diamond Grading System(TM), will teach Diamond Grading March 10-14. Students will learn to grade diamonds using the 4 Cs of diamond value -- color, cut, clarity and carat CARAT, weights. A carat is a weight equal to three and one-sixth grains, in diamonds, and the like. Jac. L. Dict. See Weight.  weight. Gem Identification, to be held March 17-21, provides instruction on how to identify natural, synthetic and imitation gemstones. More than 60 species of gemstones are covered. Learn to grade the color, clarity and cut value factors of colored not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

Enrollment in GIA's Extension classes is open to anyone. The classes are ideal for students who are working toward completing course requirements for GIA's Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma, the industry's most prestigious professional designation. GIA travels worldwide to teach its Extension classes to industry newcomers and seasoned professionals who are updating their skills.
