Virtual teams--teams of employees working on particular projects in geographically dispersed locations--present unique challenges and opportunities for businesses. The flexibility and productivity allowed by teams that are able to work almost around the clock is matched by the challenges of cultural differences and lack of opportunity to develop interpersonal relationships. There are some guidelines that can help virtual teams work together smoothly and effectively while avoiding conflict or managing it in the best possible manner.
