ADVANTAGE West Midlands West Midlands, former metropolitan county, central England. Created in the 1974 local government reorganization, the county embraced the Birmingham conurbation and comprised seven metropolitan districts: Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, Birmingham, Solihull,  will be supporting the following events:

This five-day event and field tour is an international workshop organised jointly by IEA Bioenergy in association with the Forestry Commission The Forestry Commission (established in 1919) is a non-ministerial Government Department responsible for forestry in Great Britain. Its mission is to protect and expand Britain's forests and woodlands and increase their value to society and the environment.  England and Forest Research.

IEA Bioenergy is an international collaborative research and development (R&D) agreement that has the aim of accelerating the use of environmentally sound and costcompetitive bioenergy on a sustainable basis to provide increased security of supply and a substantial contribution to future energy demands.

The Forestry Commission England, together with Forest Research, is responsible for providing support to the public and private sector woodfuel industries in the UK.

As such they administer grant funding, provide training and information to raise the profile of this emerging industry. This workshop presents shared experience of the development of this supply chain in England, problems overcome, milestones achieved and hurdles yet to be overcome.

Advantage West Midlands Low-Carbon Economy Programme launch event October 14, 2008, Austin Court, Birmingham

Advantage West Midlands will launch the region's new pounds 27.5 million Low- Carbon Economy Programme, which targets investment in the key low-carbon areas of energy, design and construction, waste and resource effi ciency.

The event will allow Advantage West Midlands to bring together the key national and regional delivery partners from the Carbon Trust, Energy Saving Trust, Envirowise and the Waste and Resource Action Programme, who will help the region fulfil its lowcarbon potential.

Policy managers from AWM will be on hand throughout the event to discuss and explore the regional transition to a low-carbon economy.
