Workgroup Technology Announces Version 6.5 Of CMS Product Data Management Solution.
Leading PDM Solution Now Expands Support For
Windows NT and Mentor Graphics(R) Users
Workgroup Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:WKGP) today announced the availability of its production-proven product data management (PDM) solution, CMS version 6.5, which expands usability to Microsoft applications users, remote NT servers and Mentor Graphics Computer Aided Design (CAD) users.
Workgroup Technology's CMS is designed for visionary organizations that wish to improve product development efficiencies and market competitiveness by disseminating product information to the right people at the right time. It provides a global electronic repository for instantaneous access and distribution of accurate product information. Unlike other PDM systems that can take years of customization to put into production, CMS is a production proven system that can be implemented in weeks. Workgroup Technology's Solutions Approach and Implementation Methodology provide a realizable return on investment in record time.
The latest version of CMS 6.5 allows native UNIX users to distribute data through replication on Windows NT servers, as well as UNIX servers. Among other benefits, the new release will enable remote sites to run CMS on Windows NT platforms, eliminating the need for UNIX equipment and expertise resources. It also provides Windows client user access to even greater amounts of data from other enterprise or CAD systems, through a greatly enhanced Application Protocol Interface (API).
"For years, Mentor Graphics and Workgroup Technology have provided users with an integrated, best-of-breed solution for facilitating the engineering design process through to actual production," said Kent Moffat, manager, Solutions Partnerships, from Mentor Graphics. "With these latest enhancements, products can be built within the most efficient, complex development environments available today. Together we will continue to increase design team efficiency and accuracy, leading to reduced time-to-market and increased profitability."
With CMS, Mentor Graphics users now have the ability to track the modification of designs at the component level. Updated components are automatically stored with their original references and retain their linkages to other components that were unchanged. Mentor Graphics users are able to work through a single, Mentor user interface, while taking advantage of the security, revision control, component relationships and audit trail from CMS.
"CMS 6.5 is the result of Workgroup's commitment to the Microsoft NT platform as well as to the Mentor Graphics design customers," said Mike Rielly, CMS Product Manager. "CMS now provides them with a practical remote solution across platforms for worldwide development and manufacturing sites. By providing broader accessibility, we are showing our support for the rapidly moving, global, extended enterprise. We are responding to the ever changing needs of our customers and the competitive nature of their environment."
