Mayor's Art Show opening

The Springfield Mayor's Art Show opens with a reception and awards ceremony from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Emerald Art Center, 500 Main St.

Unlike the Eugene Mayor's Art Show, in which a jury of art experts picks the art works to exhibit, the Springfield version shows everything that's entered. That means this year's show has more than 400 pieces. The show is open to all artists.

Regular hours at the art center are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. The show continues at the center through Nov. 12.
