"Woodward's PW615F offering is our most extensive engine systems application to date," said Marty Glass, Woodward vice president and Aircraft Engine Systems general manager. "This is a substantial win for Woodward in implementing our strategy to provide fuel to burn, engine actuation, heat management, and combustion control to today's efficient engine designs. It also exemplifies our ability to optimize our relationships with our customers and key suppliers to develop innovative designs that maximize performance and minimize costs."

The PW615F is the first production application of P&WC's PW600 family of engines. P&WC is also considering turboshaft tur·bo·shaft

Woodward's engine control system will meter fuel and provide bleed air Bleed air in gas turbine engines is compressed air taken from within the engine, after the compressor stage(s) and before the fuel is injected in the burners. While in theory bleed air could be drawn in any gas turbine engine, its usage is generally restricted to jet engines used  actuation and fuel flow division to the manifold as well as providing ignition for combustion.

Woodward will design and manufacture the ignition system as well as the fuel pump, metering unit, and bleed valve actuator for the engine control system. Maintaining system level responsibility, Woodward will also specify, integrate, assemble, and rig test additional system components, including the electronic engine control (manufactured by Hispano-Suiza), permanent magnet alternator alternator: see generator.
