Wonderware Debuts SECS-II/GEM Equipment Kit --
Communication Interface to SECS-II/GEM Host Kit
Wonderware Corporation Monday announced the introduction of its SECS-II/GEM Equipment Kit, a companion product to the previously released SECS-II/GEM Host Kit.
These complimentary products combine to provide host-side and equipment-side SECS-II communication capability to a variety of ActiveX enabled products. Designed to support Wonderware's FactorySuite(TM) integrated suite of automation software, which includes InTouch(TM), InTrack(TM), InBatch(TM), InControl(TM) and IndustrialSQL Server(TM) products, both the Equipment and Host Kits will be demonstrated July 12-14 at SEMICON SEMICON Semiconductors Equipment and Material International Conference West 99 in San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden . Wonderware's booth (No. 8510) is located in the Yerba Buena yerba buena (yĕr`bə bwā`nə), trailing evergreen perennial (Micromeria chamissonis) of the family Labiatae (mint family). It is native to W North America and especially common to woodland areas along the Pacific coast. Hall in the Marriott, adjacent to the Moscone center The Moscone Center is San Francisco, California's largest convention and exhibition complex. The complex consists of two main underground halls underneath Yerba Buena Gardens, Moscone North and Moscone South, as well the three-level Moscone West exhibition hall across 4th Street. .
"The introduction of SECS-II/GEM Equipment Kit is an important step in our evolution as a total manufacturing solutions provider to the semiconductor industry," said Carl Hoffman, product marketing manager, Wonderware. "We're excited to be able to provide this interface with compliance to SECS-I, SECS-II, HSMS-SS and GEM, which has been tested with GW Associates' SECSIM Pro(TM)."
Wonderware's SECS-II/GEM Equipment Kit and Host Kit
The SECS-II/GEM Equipment Kit is used as a drop-in addition to InTouch (Human Machine Interface) by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) who want an easy way to add GEM-compliant SECS-II capability to equipment that uses InTouch as an operator faceplate with standard I/O standard I/O - standard input/output servers communicating to any on-board PLCs. The Equipment Kit interface provides an easy-to-use configuration to reduce setup time versus writing specific, customized code.
"The Equipment Kit in conjunction with InTouch provides an elegant way to create a GEM-compliant equipment interface that also takes full advantage of the spectrum of Wonderware's product offerings," said Louis Ross, product engineer, Wonderware. "The only development time is spent configuring a data model of the equipment -- no code to write."
The Host Kit is intended for customers who operate fabrication fabrication (fab´rikā´shn),
n the construction or making of a restoration. facilities, and want to use InTouch, InTrack or InBatch to control semiconductor equipment over a SECS-II connection. The Host Kit is able to communicate with many Tools (equipment) simultaneously through both SECS-I (serial RS-232) and HSMS-SS (TCP/IP TCP/IP
