Publisher's Note

The San Fernando Valley Business Journal was pleased to host the fourth annual "Women who Mean Business" awards reception. We received more than 100 nominations from our readers and business and community leaders and 300 guests attended the reception on September 21st.

This year's theme was "a year of growth and opportunity." Using this as our guidepost, the members of the awards selection committee identified 15 women, of all ages and levels of experience, who exemplified the theme. Some of our honorees experienced tremendous obstacles and persevered; others were executives but new to the region; others are rising stars, and still others are women re-entering the professional work place in a big way. We congratulate every one of this year's nominees and salute all women in business!
