Women theologians move up.

Its function is to advise the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) of the Roman Catholic Church. . an influential advisory board for the Vatican.

Sister Sara Butler, M.S.B.T., of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake University of Saint Mary of the Lake, also called Mundelein Seminary, is the principal seminary and school of theology for the formation of priests in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, governed from Chicago, Illinois in the United States.  in Mundelein, Illinois and Barbara Hallensleben of Fribourg University in Switzerland will join the 30-member commission.

"They were not chosen because they're women. They were chosen for their competence," Cardinal Georges Cottier, papal household theologian and former head of the commission told Reuters after the announcement. "It's very positive, and I'm very happy"

Hallensleben said the five-year appointments for the two theology professors were a natural step since more women have studied theology after the Second Vatican Council Noun 1. Second Vatican Council - the Vatican Council in 1962-1965 that abandoned the universal Latin liturgy and acknowledged ecumenism and made other reforms
