Women politicos get girls talking politics.

A study published in the current issue of The Journal of Politics (May 2006) concludes that the presence of female politicians inspires political interest and activism in young women. The authors find that the adolescents' interest is also heightened by viable female candidates campaigning for high-profile offices. "A highly visible woman politician A politician is an individual who is a formally recognized and active member of a government, or a person who influences the way a society is governed through an understanding of political power and group dynamics.  in the future-perhaps even as the top of a major party presidential ticket-has the potential to generate significant interest in political activity," the authors state. "Visible female candidates trigger (1) A mechanism that initiates an action when an event occurs such as reaching a certain time or date or upon receiving some type of input.
