It has 327 branches, the majority of which are in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange Counties. held its twe fth annual Women Making a Difference Awards Reception at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica on the evening of Wednesday, August 20th, 2003. Described by attendees as an uplifting and inspirational evening, the celebration honored Los Angeles based women who "lead by example," successfully blending effective business vision with a passionate commitment to positively "making a difference," both in the world of business and in the communities they serve. Nearly 100 prestigious nominees were submitted to the judges, who had the unenviable task of narrowing the field down to six honorees for this year's event. Judges this year included JoAnn Bourne Bourne, town (1990 pop. 16,064), Barnstable co., SE Mass., crossed by Cape Cod Canal; settled 1627, inc. 1884. Bourne Bridge (1935), across the canal, made the town an entry point to Cape Cod and a resort and commercial center. of Union Bank of California; Renee White Fraser of NAWBO--LA and Fraser Communications; Robbie Motter of NAFE NAFE National Association for Female Executives NAFE National Association of Forensic Economics NAFE National Academy of Forensic Engineers NAFE Non-Advanced Further Education (UK) and Contacts Unlimited; Rusty Hammer of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; and Matt Toledo of the Los Angeles Business Journal. Los Angeles Business Journal publisher Matt Toledo kicked off the event. This year, for the first time, specifically categorized Awards of Recognition were presented to a group of women who have truly blazed a path of leadership and inspiration for all Angelenos.
