Women continue to be under-represented in trades, technology fields. (Influential Women).

) stated that in trade and technology related industries the participation of women is only 10 per cent versus 58 per cent for men. The study showed that employed women are under represented in the following industries: construction, fishing and trapping trapping, most broadly, the use of mechanical or deceptive devices to capture, kill, or injure animals. It may be applied to the practice of using birdlime to capture birds, lobster pots to trap lobsters, and seines to catch fish. , logging and forestry, mining, quarrying quarrying, open, or surface, excavation of rock used for various purposes, including construction, ornamentation, road building, and as an industrial raw material. Rock that has been quarried is commonly called stone.  and oil wells, transportation, communications and other utilities, manufacturing, agriculture and trades.

 HRDC the participation of women in most production-related jobs in theses industries is relatively low, considerably below the average for all occupations. The HRDC is currently doing a 'Women In Trades and Technology' skills gap analysis to assess the shortage.
