Government Leader of the Year

Wendy Greuel

LA City Council Member

Councilmember Wendy Greuel was sworn into office in 2002 to represent Los Angeles' Second Council District in the San Fernando Valley. In her first year of service, she worked tirelessly to fight for the Valley's fair share of city resources. Within six weeks of her taking office, she introduced a borough proposal, which sought to move power away from City Hall and back to the neighborhoods.

Her leadership is inspired by her strong belief that more responsive government, greater citizen participation, and empowered neighborhoods will improve quality of life for all residents.

She innately understands the very important relationship between government and the people and how, working together, this relationship can improve and enhance lives--young and old.
