Women In Defense activities draw national attention.Several related events in recent months brought together Women In Defense members with distinguished professionals. At the organization's annual meeting, the 2005-2006 board of directors was installed. Retired Army Lt. Gen. Lawrence Skibbie and retired Air Force Maj. Gen. James E. McInerney Jr. received the President's Award for their contributions in fostering WID's growth. Skibbie is NDIA'S former president, and McInerney is that association's vice president for membership and chapters. Also this fall, WID's national and chapter leaders met for their third annual Leaders Conference to share ideas and experiences and to look at ways to enhance the membership experience. WID'S 2005 National Fall Conference, featuring the theme "Honoring Our Past, Shaping Our Future," drew WID members and others from all parts of the nation.
